A friendlier place to figure out your gut
American Gut Free is an independent community and education project for people living with IBS symptoms, bloating and a sensitive gut. We started it because good information about digestive health is often buried under jargon, myths and sales pitches.
What we do
- Publish plain-language guides that explain what trusted US sources (NIH, Mayo Clinic, Harvard Health, Cleveland Clinic and leading newsrooms) say about IBS, bloating, food and supplements. Every article links to its original source.
- Run a private community on Facebook where members share experiences and support each other.
- Offer free tools like our 14-day symptom tracker, so you can bring clear notes to your doctor.
- Host the Gut Reset Program, a sponsored 14-day experience program with limited spots each round.
Who runs American Gut Free
American Gut Free is created and operated by a small team of marketers, writers and community managers. We are not doctors, and we do not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Our articles are written for general education and reviewed by our editorial team for accuracy against their sources. When we cover a topic where expert opinions differ, or where the evidence is weak, we say so clearly.
Our relationship with HH US
Product and funding provided by HH US. HH US sponsors American Gut Free and provides the product used in the Gut Reset Program, along with funding for the program and community operations.
- Program participants are never required to post a review, and no reward is offered in exchange for a review.
- Our educational articles are not paid placements and do not mention or promote any product.
- Anything we say about a product is limited to general structure/function statements and carries the required FDA disclaimer.
We share this because you deserve to know who supports the work you are reading. This disclosure follows the US Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements.
Our editorial principles
- Source everything. We link to the study, guideline or article behind each claim.
- No cure claims. We never say a food, habit or supplement treats, cures or prevents IBS or any disease.
- Respect your experience. Gut symptoms are real and can affect every part of life. We write with that in mind.
- Encourage professional care. We consistently point readers to their doctor or a registered dietitian, especially for red-flag symptoms.
- Correct mistakes quickly. Spot an error? Email us and we will review it within 7 days.
